Kat Asharya Founder/Editorial Director Bringer of Darkness Is a nomad and is in a ferocious mood these days and doesn’t really want to deal with writing a bio. She is writing a novel about teenage skater werewolves. She often lives in NYC but sometimes near Chicago and often goes to California. She has some fancy degrees from fancy places. Liz Barker Executive Editor Skate-Hippie Enthusiast Child of the northeast who moved to Los Angeles mostly because she’d always really liked Jane’s Addiction. Inordinately proud of herself for having had a photo of Sofia Coppola stuck to her bedroom wall in 1993 (also in 1993: saw Nirvana, wore tights with cutoff jeans and used combat boots very often); now has photos of Mick Jagger and Mary Timony stuck to her home-office wall. Earns her dough writing about straw-bale architecture and spa travel for various lifestyle magazines, then blows it allon vintage Bones Brigade t-shirts and day trips up the PCH to the site of her as-yet-incomplete first novel. Laura Jane Faulds Senior Writer Secret Weapon Laura Jane Faulds is a Toronto-based writer of French-Moroccan descent. She is inspired by James Joyce, John Lennon, John Cale, Brian Eno, sangria, apple bongs, and the Muppet Babies.

Emily Richmond, Videographer: 1985: Born in Florida, in a region most famous for its disproportionately high number of “Carnie” residents (googling “Lobster Boy” should get you started). 2003: Moved to LA, got a houseboat, went to school. 2006: Finished uni, got a sailboat.  2007: Spent a year with a small red dog bobbing around the pacific ocean, in and out of foriegn ports, in and out of trouble. Dinners with kings, queens, adulterers, and thiefs. 2008: Back to LA. Staying busy with cameras and friends. Planning a circumnavigation. With dog.

Meggy Wang, Intern: Born in the Midwest, raised in California, and currently working on her MFA in fiction while living in Ann Arbor. Style milestones include a tooth fairy costume that she wore to her aunt’s wedding, the decision after leaving Yale to wear All Skirts No Pants!, the thrift-punk aesthetic of mid- to late-90’s zine and riot grrrl culture, a long-lived mod phase, and, most recently, her obsession with 1930s-1950s vintage. When she’s not working on her novel or blogging, Meggy conjures up Taiwanese cuisine in her bitty kitchen, hits up used bookstores and plays with her Contax T2. Hallie Faben, Recipe Developer: An Official Angeleno who’s just celebrated her 6th year in this starry-eyed town, Hallie likes to think of the smog as a “bewitching desert mist.” She grew up in California, living at one time or another in San Diego by the beach, Humboldt in the redwoods, and in the Central and North Valleys where they grow the most amazing food in the world. A film and television editor by day, she’s a food scientist and taste-sensationalist by night and weekend. Inspired equally by the romance of M.F.K Fisher and logic of Harold McGee, Hallie lives to eat.

Jane Srisarakorn, Contributing Editor: Born in Southern California, and raised in Southern Oregon. As a young child refused to wear jeans, preferring frilly dresses. First introduced to sex, drugs and rock n’ roll in grade school, via her older sister’s Sassy magazines, then graduated to Harper’s Bazaar and Vogue, which she studiously pored over in the early to mid ’90s. Discovered the existence of college/alternative/indie rock and has since been obsessed with the many different secret worlds that music can create, particularly in one’s closet. Despite this interest, generally tends to wear the same get-up for days on end and rotating weekly, especially after moving to New York. Currently resides in Red Hook, land of imagined tumbleweeds and authentic-looking handlebar mustaches.

BEAUTIFULLYWORN
A fashion photo show curated by NOGOODFORME.COM! Presented by Clarabella, Beautifullyworn debuted on October 15, 2008, at Clarabella in NYC’s Lower East Side and featured more than 40 photographers documenting their favorite things to wear and why they love them.

SPIRIT ANIMAL HOUSE I
Our party benefit for animal welfare was held in September 2008 at Pianos in New York City. In addition to presenting two bands (Speck Mountain and our own LJ’s Ver Sacrum) and curating an Indie Fashion Lounge in the upstairs space, we organized a charity raffle featuring over 70 designers, artists, and other creative types and raised nearly $700.
