Snapshot: Listening, Watching, Reading, Etc.

+ Kat
Listening: Caribou, Andorra; the Stooges, Funhouse; Professor Murder, Professor Murder Rides the Subway; My Life With the Thrill Kill Kult, Confessions of a Knife (on a WaxTrax! cassette that still has the dried spilled coffee all over the insert from ages and ages and ages ago)
Watching: The Searchers; Fallen Angels; episodes of “Dirty Sexy Money”
Reading: Still working on the Thomas J. Friedman book from last week; Perfume by Patrick Suskind
Wearing: A vintage dark floral Holly Harp dress from the early 1970s with black tights and Alaia sandals, worn to a wedding recently
Wanting: To stare at Ben Whishaw, who doesn’t really appear in the trailer for Todd Haynes’ I’m Not There and you should go see it when it comes out ’cause it’s really, really good and adventurous and non-linear and full of great music and performances
+ Liz
Listening: Britt Daniel’s cover of “Bring it on Home to Me” by Sam Cooke; Cat Power, You are Free; White Magic, Dark Stars; that PJ Harvey bootleg Kat linked to last week; way early Red Hot Chili Peppers
Watching: Kalifornia (oh, Brad Pitt, how I miss when you weren’t a big disappointment); Evening (yucka-mucka, however: I find it oddly comforting that Claire Danes always cries the same way); Foxfire (pretty bad and wildly untrue to the book, but almost worth watching for adorable teenaged Jenny Lewis); the MOCA’s Takashi Murakami retrospective (because I have no shame, I will inform you that the highlight was crossing paths with Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter and swooning at the former’s staggering in-person attractiveness)
Reading: Highwire Moon still; the new issue of Nylon (with Sienna Miller and her sister)
Wearing: my new favorite vintage jeans and a beautiful silk sleeveless butterfly-adorned top by Rebecca Taylor
Wanting: a haircut and to marry Keanu Reeves
